It’s that time of year again where we start decorating our homes and getting into the holiday spirit. Compass Homes cares about your safety and thought we’d give you a few holiday safety decorating tips.
Keep live trees away from heat sources and keep trees hydrated. Trees are highly flammable, especially if you don’t give it enough water.
Double check your lights and check for frayed wires, broken sockets and loose connections.
Use a ladder whether you’re stringing lights outside or just putting that beautiful topper on your tree. And be sure to have a helper hold the ladder securely at its base.
Use unbreakable ornaments. We all try, but the tree is bound to get bumped and fragile ornaments are susceptible to falling and breaking. Try looking for acrylic or plastic ornaments to avoid breakage.
Poinsettias are beautiful holiday plants, but they are poisonous to children and animals. Try using silk or plastic arrangements or at least place the live plants high enough so kids and pets can’t reach them.
